TYSONS, VA — Whole Foods Market will open its new store at The Boro mixed-use development on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The store's location is 1635 Boro Place, McLean.
The store will welcome customers at 8 a.m. The first 200 customers will receive a custom reusable Whole Foods Market Tysons Corner tote bag and savings card with a value between $5 and $100. Guests will also receive complimentary coffee from local supplier Cafe Kreyol and breakfast bites before the store opens.
The 70,000 square-foot store will be Whole Foods Market’s Mid-Atlantic flagship location. Features will include a food hall covering various cuisines, a bar and game room and an expansive selection of items, prepared foods and products from local suppliers.
The food hall will feature these local businesses:
Officina: Michelin-Star Chef Nicholas Stefanelli's concept offers modern interpretations of Italian classics and a focus on handmade pastas.Genji Izakaya: The Izakaya-style menu features sushi, poke, dumplings and ramen.Curiosity Doughnuts: Founded by "Ideas in Food" authors Aki Kamozawa and Alexander Talbo, guests can find various flavors of doughnutsRappahannock Oyster Co.: This Virginia-based company serves fresh oysters with a mission to celebrate good food grown well.
Details of the bar and game room on the second floor of the store have yet to be announced.
Other store highlights will include a beer and wine department with hundreds of local supplier options; Allegro coffee and tea bar and JRINK juice bar with smoothies, smoothie bowls and cold-pressed juices. The prepared food area will feature a pizza bar, Indian venue with two tandoori ovens, barbecue bar with smoked meats and sides, and a full-service deli with charcuterie options.
The store will donate five percent of net sales on Thursday, Nov. 7 to Food for Others, which provides nutritious meals to elementary-school children for weekends. From opening day through the end of 2019, all donations from Whole Foods Market’s bag credit program will go to Fairfax Casa, which works on rights of children entering the juvenile court system. The bag credit program gives customers a credit if they bring their own shopping bags.
This will be the tenth Whole Foods store in Northern Virginia. The store will have 325 full and part-time team members. Store hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
